SHOELESS!

Hey there!

Today I'm here to tell you about this fantastic idea that my lovely friend Katie came up with.
You can view her blog here and see her FB page here

Basically she has gone shoeless for 6 months to help raise awareness about how much we have, and how little others have .. lacking even the bare essentials!

She has started a page where you can pledge to go shoeless - for a day, 3 days, a week, even a month if you want! And in return to collect up (good quality) shoes that are never used, sitting in the back of closets.

These shoes she will then sell (June 8th) with all proceeds going to help kids in Cambodia get the essentials they need to get an education - shoes, uniforms, and school supplies.

I've signed up for a week (in MAY .. brrrr it's gonna be a cold one!) - giving up wearing my brand new beautiful boots that I've just bought - because it is such a worthy cause!

I've already gathered up a tonne of shoes - maybe you would like to donate some too?? (esp. if you're in the Hamilton or Whangarei regions .. so I can actually get them to the venue to be sold!)

Check out her sign up page here if you want to sign up (and read what it's all about) and check out this page here to see where the funds are going.

Beanie Hats

A long time ago I made a hat for my then only child.
I must have done something right because it is still being worn 2 more kids later!
It was being worn by mister middle child the other day when a friend of mine saw it and asked where I had got it. After finding out I had made it she asked if she could make her kids some.
Luckily I still had the fabric left over to make the boys ones:

(this pic 2 new ones, and the original)

Then I was stoked to find $2 per metre of this pretty dark pink fabric to make some girls hats!

Strawberry on one:

Lillie's on the other:

Super easy to make (though everything takes time!)

Paperwork

Paperwork. Good times.
The filing cabinet was getting a tad full so I thought I'd better clear it out.
This is the heap of paper I have to get rid of! What a waste of space that is now ready to be re-filled with more paper. All those poor trees!

Delish Dinner #2

Delish Dinner #2

See HERE to find out what I did originally.
This is what I did with the left overs:

I roasted up some more baby carrots/onion/garlic like in the original recipe and added them with some gravy I made up plus chopped up left over meat:

Add on top some mashed spuds and a sprinkling of cheese:

YUM  - a delicious dinner that actually stretched to two dinners (just!)

Delish Dinner #1

Delish Dinner #1

I am lucky enough to have access to homekill meat (sorry to all you veges out there!)
It's so much nicer than store bought and nice to know the animal had a good life before it ended up in the freezer!
I had a beef topside roast and, not quite sure what to do with it, I (as per usual) googled recipes and found this Jamie Oliver one. DELISH!! I also had some fantastic baby carrots from the Whangarei Markets. I actually made a special trip to the markets just for these babies the other day they are THAT good!

Here is a pre-cook pic:

And post-cooked:

YUMYUMYUM It was cooked to perfection!
And there was more left over for a whole other dinner.

Watch this space for what I did with the left overs!

Things I'm Loving Link Up

Linking in with MNM's

Things I'm loving ..
I've just kept it simple today .. I LOVE this beautiful view!
I drive past this outlook every time I head into town. I am lucky to get every Tuesday night off to go and play board games with some good friends and this view at dusk (when I drive past) is often an amazing sunset!

What are you loving?
Pop on over to MNM's and link up too :-)
